Jeff Loomis covers Jason Becker [Video]

jeffThe ex.Nevermore guitar virtuoso Jeff Loomis have published a cover of the Jason Becker song Perpetual Burn on his YouTube-channel. Jeff Loomis, playing his Schecter, demonstrates the insane neoclassical instrumental from 1988. A fantastic showcase on the incredible talent of Mr. Loomis.
His love for Jason Beckers work is previously documented. When he first did his solo album, he mentioned Jason Becker as a major influence. And as we can see in the video, he actually has a poster of Becker framed behind him on the wall.

Jason Becker, who was part of the metal duo Cacophony along with Marty Friedman, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease) at age 20. It was in 1991, just a short period of time after he had joined David Lee Roth‘s band for the album “A Little Ain’t Enough”. The disease stole his ability to play guitar and made him both paralyzed and unable to speak. But he still composes music with the help of computers, collaborators, and a system of communication using eye movements that was devised by his father Gary.
